Layon's "MEET ME AT THE OAK" returns!

The play that unexpectedly garnered multiple Los Angeles Theater awards and launched Layon 's professional playwriting career in 2003 returns!!!

 Now, after two decades, we are thrilled to announce that MEET ME AT THE OAK written and directed by Layon Gray will make its East Coast premiere at Pittsburgh Public Theatre

(February 18-March 1, 2026), presented by New Horizon Theater.

 Set in 1955, Alexandria Louisiana, the play centers on a family who transforms trauma into ritual by gathering beneath an ancient oak tree with a violent past. This tree—once a site of lynchings during slavery—becomes their sacred meeting place for prayer and remembrance, its bark bearing the blood-carved names of their ancestors who didn't survive.

The play invites audiences to challenge established narratives and choose paths guided by the heart. Cast announced soon.
