Layon's captivating mystical production, "Searching For Willie Lynch," is set to make its Off-Broadway debut in New York City from June 14 to July 27, with the opening night slated for June 19, Juneteenth. The performances will be held at the Actors Temple Theatre, located at 339 West 47th Street. The play is both written and directed by Layon Gray.
Set in 1712, the story begins on the banks of Virginia's James River, where a slave owner named Willie Lynch purportedly delivered a disturbing speech outlining his tactics for fostering division among Black people for generations. This compelling play follows three families residing in the same Louisiana home across three eras—2008, 1965, and 1925. As tensions mount, a mysterious door in the house transforms into a gateway to the past and a celebration of the future, revealing secrets and intertwining lives in ways that transcend time.
From visionary writer-director Layon Gray, known for "Black Angels Over Tuskegee" and "Kings Of Harlem," comes a spellbinding story. This narrative honors the potential of the future, taking audiences on a mystical voyage through the echoes of history. As the tale unfolds, it guides dreamers in a dance between reality and dreams, leading to an eternal revelation. Cast announcements will be made soon. For tickets, visit click HERE
